TALKING CARS & SIPPING RUM: EMMA ROSE HOSMER

A window was made available during Melbourne’s crazy lockdowns and I was able to shoot style-queen, Emma Hosmer (@the.indigo.alchemist), to chat about her family car which was sold long ago, but due to fate has ended up back in her very own driveway.

“My dad imported the car from California 10 years ago. At that time, our garage was pretty full. We had a 1960 Cadillac Coupe deVille, a 1969 Corvette Stingray and a really cute 1955 Ford Thunderbird that was a convertible.” Emma explains as she slips on a pair of leopard print sunglasses. “To free up some space, Dad sold the ’63 to Paul – an old friend he went to school with. I always wanted to have an old car of my own and when I found out Paul was selling the car, I hit him up.”

Although she’s only had the car back in her life for only a few months now, she has already started blueprinting a map to get this beauty back to the way it rolled out the factory. “I want white wall tyres with original hubcaps,” she grins.

For Emma, movies and nostalgia have always played a big role in her world, whether looking at inspiration for her social media accounts, sourcing fashion or even when we’re having small talk between clicks of the camera, She has a Star Wars Millennium Falcon tattoo on her arm, a head full of Tarantino facts and now, a T-Bird to live out her classic 60’s James Bond dreams.

Emma’s style and looks comes with style and ease and can be found over at Telling Time Vintage, an online store selling curated, one-of-a-kind globally sourced items from her personal collection. ”I try my best to inspire others with my styling and I hope it encourages people to consider recycling fashion if they haven’t already done so. We’ve got to slow things down.”

While restrictions are tight and pals are seen few and far between, I’m looking forward to pouring another Spiced Rum with friends new and old. Take care during this time.
